Legal Advice |
Legal advice on matters relating to both mental health and asylum law can be accessed through a number of organisations - many of which provide a free service. Some specialise in human rights and others in mental health or asylum law. Clients have a right to legal representation when entering a Mental Health Review Tribunal or Immigration Appeal Tribunal. Asylum Aid
The charity Asylum Aid provides free legal advice to refugees and asylum seekers in the United Kingdom. They offer advice by email or post and, in some cases, will conduct home visits. They also produce a range of legal information leaflets.
Community Legal Service:Rights for people with mental health problems
Community Legal Service provides an online information leaflet on rights afforded by the Mental health Act for people with mental health problems.
